Unworthy

Lord I am unworthy of everything you have to give.
Yet you died a brutal death so that I might live.

You came to this lowly, sinful earth in the form of a man,
Knowing that you would leave it as the sacrificial lamb.
You came to glorify the Father above.
You provided a way for salvation with such great love.
You taught in the temple and preached in the streets.
You performed great miracles and showed mercy to the sinful, mild and meek.

I am unworthy of your mercy and grace.
Yet you thought of me and said, “seek my face.”

My sin took you to the whipping post where your flesh was torn.
My filthy rags mocked you with a robe and a crown of thorns.
My sin didn’t end it there but it was far worse.
My sin took you to the cross where your blood soaked the earth.

I am so unworthy of what you did.
Yet you chose to love me, you chose to forgive.

Even in your suffering you didn’t think of you.
You chose to pray to the Father “Father forgive them, they no not what they do.”
Then you proclaimed it is finished hung your head and died for me.
Oh my Lord Oh my Lord I am so unworthy.

You have a talent for poetry. This is good and a reminder of how unworthy we truly are. Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful poem. It just goes to show how far God went for us even though we definitely aren't deserving. Well done.

We are all unworthy. It is by Grace we can have salvation.
