Battle Cry

Psalms 5:1-3

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,
consider my sighing.
2 Listen to my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation. (NIV)

We were born on a battle field, a spiritual battle field, naked we came into this world. We arrived without body armor or weapons. A battle not of our choosing.We were born of the flesh, into a raging war that started long ago. I don’t know about you but that makes me feel very vulnerable.

I fought this battle for 30 years and didn’t have the slightest idea what was really going on around me. Broken relationships, sickness and disease, lost jobs. My mother took me to church as a child, and the foundation of mercy was layed. It wasn’t until much later in life that I began to question my existence. I remembered about the teachings of Jesus from long ago. One night in the summer of 1996 after years of alcohol and drugs, divorce, and lost jobs, I found my self on the floor of my home, totally broken! Balling my eyes out, melted into the floor. I cried out to Jesus, I said, Jesus, if this is what I was created for, please take me now. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired! It seams I cried all night until I fell asleep. The next morning a stranger was at the door asking for me by name; it was a pastor from a church ten miles away. He said, the Lord had heard your cry’s and went on to tell me things about myself that only I knew. He led me through the sinner’s prayer that morning and welcomed me to the brotherhood of forgiveness and love.

That night I sounded the battle cry! And through my brokenness it penetrated the heart of God. Today I can see the battle I was in, but at the time I felt naked and alone. 30 years later, I still layed on that same battle field without armor or weapons.

I challenge you today to sound the battle cry! It might not be a cry for salvation, it might be a son or daughter lost to the world of alcohol or drugs or a husband lost to pornography, or a spouse lost to adultery. But don’t give up, pray without ceasing!

47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands." (NIV)

I challenge you today if your battle seems larger than life; take it before the creator of life. He’s Larger than any battle. We serve a BIG GOD!

Lord, I thank you for hearing us when we sound the battle cry.
We know are request and intercessions don’t fall on deaf ears.
The battle is Yours and Yours alone, we thank you for pulling our loved ones from the clutches of the enemy.
