In the days of Nehemiah
When the walls came down
His heart was broken
For Jerusalem, his town

He sat down and wept
In ashes and mourning
Remembering the time
God gave His warning

He fasted and prayed
For many days and nights
That God would show mercy
On Jerusalem’s plights

Where are the tears?
In this world today
In this land of America
With our walls in decay

We must fall to our knees
In weeping and prayer
To the God of our fathers
For His grace and care

We are broken and battered
Our country’s in disgrace
False security surrounds
Without seeking His face

True repentance is needed
From our wicked ways
Ask for His mercy and
Weep for these evil days

Weep for little babies
Who will never be born
Weep for the hungry
For the sad and forlorn

Weep for the children
Whose parents have divorced
They’re left all alone
Without the family enforced

Weep for the homeless
With no place of their own
Who beg on the streets
With little charity shown.

Weep for the prostitute
The one peddling drugs
For this sin-sick society
Full of robbers and thugs

Weep for the terrorists
Whose goal is to kill
Weep for our soldiers
For God’s protection and will

Weep for the lost souls
Who are dying every day
Weep for those sinners
Who don’t know The Way

We are called by His name
To humble our heart
For healing and revival
Only God can impart

Where are the tears?
O ye children of God!
We must weep and pray
For this land that we trod.

Where are the tears?
O ye children of the King!
Our sackcloth and ashes
To His house, we must bring.

Then, arise! O ye children!
There is work yet to be done!
Restore the rubble of our land
For the glory...of the coming Son.
