The water is so warm,
Why it’s warm enough for fishes,
I pretend I’m fly-casting in the north,
Truth is, I’m washing dishes.

Life isn’t really all that bad,
I’m not drowning all my troubles,
I don’t care much for the slimy stuff,
But I really like the bubbles.

I’m really quite content,
There’s naught to make me sad,
This cornbread’s really stuck,
Hey, look, a Brillo pad!

It’s a portrait of my life,
The pie tin is so burnt,
The oven got so hot, but
Look at what I learnt.

(I asked my wife for a topic and a time limit: she challenged me to write a poem about "washing dishes" and I had 10 minutes: it's a great warm-up exercise....hope you like it, we sure had fun)
