The Word for Writers

Fresh coffee in the morning,
A new day’s on its way,
My heart full of encouragement, I have so much to say.

So sure I’ll have the words,
To share all that’s in my heart,
I sit down at my desk; I don’t know where to start.

I’ve rehearsed these words, Lord,
Zillions of countless times,
And now that I’m ready to write them, what’s this? Nothing rhymes?

Tap, peck, and tap,
Backspace and delete,
The words once sure within me, are now so incomplete!

I so want to tell them, of all you’ve given me,
But I can’t find the spacebar, the X, the Y, or Z.

I finally have the place to start,
Of just why You are the Rose,
I begin to joyfully type,
Oh great! The “puter” froze.

I really have to hurry now,
To share my burdened heart,
Doggone it, stupid thing, come on!
Restart, restart, restart!

“Welcome! You’ve Got Mail”
Darkness or its light, its heaven or its hell.
Someone tell me please! How’d I get to AOL?

So eager just to write this,
I grab a pad and pen,
What’s that? Oh, yur kiddin’ me, the gosh darn phone again.

I hang up rather quickly,
I hope I wasn’t rude,
I have to get this down in print, but with this attitude?

I’m so flustered, I’m so angry,
So doggone aggravated,
I wrestle with those pesky words; I suppose this could have waited.

(Clearly, I could go on and on with this scenario, but I think it speaks for itself. If it doesn’t speak to you, then pray for the rest of us, hurry! None of us can afford to throw another computer in the trash)
