Faith
I should be running all around screaming, tearing my hair out, bawling, nervously wringing my hands with a huge frown on my face. That's exactly what I should be doing.
I'm not. Nope, I'm sitting here peacefully typing (well, other than the fact that my cat is sitting at my feet whining nonstop for some reason), hoping that what I type might be a blessing to someone else who might be feeling the way I should be feeling. I've been happily puttering around my tiny house, doing things (it's surprising how much there is to do even in a tiny little house!), enjoying the quiet, catching up.
You see, I am broke--don't know how I'm gonna pay that neverending pile of bills---yet I'm not.
I am worried--yes, worried about paying those bills, my family, my son Kevin, Christmas, my job---yet I'm not.
I am afraid--of all those things that might be out there, of all those people, of stuff I can't quite name--yet I'm not.
I should be wondering where our next meal is coming from--the cupboards are very bare and the money to fill them is rare--yet I'm not.
God will provide it. It's coming. I know that. Even if it comes in the form of a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter, it's coming. Peanut butter. The miracle food! The little food that could! Forget the bread. I think I'll just grab a spoon and eat it straight out of the jar! Yum!
My point to all this is to remind you that God will provide whatever it is that you need. Did you know that the word 'nourishment' means so much more than just ingesting food? So much more!
I'm not sure how I wound up in such a mess, or why everything and everyone around me seems to be so unstable. I'm not sure how it will all end. Why it is that it all seems to be getting worse and not better. How much farther down is the bottom?
Honestly, I don't know. But God does. That's good enough for me. I hope I am hearing what He is trying to tell me.
Are you listening? As I tell my children, things are the way they are. You have to deal with the 'what is' and lay aside all those 'what ifs'.
What is is the reality. What if is only the dream.
I don't know what may happen tomorrow. Anything is possible. Could be bad. Could be good. I don't even know what I'm doing this afternoon!
Please, stop fretting. Sit still and relax. God is on duty. All you have to deal with is what's happening now, this minute, and leave the rest to Him.
I promise, He WILL keep you in perfect peace if you keep your mind fixed on Him.
Have a wonderful day!
