A Man Named Stan From Wallamalloo: A Silly Poem


There once was a man
Whose name it was Stan
Who lived in Wallamalloo.
He stood tall and dark
His face was all stark
But his heart was ultimately true.

Said this young man
(whose skin was dark tan)
“I must find me a capable wife!”
So he searched high and low
And then to and fro
But he felt such a terrible strife.

“Oh, where can I find
A girl nice and kind
Whose heart is true just like mine?
I’ll search near and far
To the most distant star
For a girl who’s so wonderfully fine.”

It was such a pity
Throughout all the city
He could not find the girl of his dreams
“I’m just at a loss
My dreams I will toss!”
He was headed for despair, so it seems

He found a church steeple
And through all the people
He searched until his eyes they did spy
A girl of great virtue
He said, “What a flirt, you!”
She was coy and turned out to be shy

“Where’ve you been hiding?”
Said Stan, a bit chiding
For he knew that he’d found his spouse
“You could’ve saved yourself time”
Her voice was a chime,
“And come straight to my Father’s House”

So startled was Stan
All the running he ran
All the heartache and trouble in vain
Had he gone to church
To start in his search
He could’ve saved himself all of the pain

So now they are one
Stan’s search is done
They’ve gone back to Wallamalloo
If a mate you should seek
Don’t make yourself bleak
In a church is where you’ll find your love true
