I understand that everything God has us do or go through is not easy, not always something we want to do. That is why our wants must be secondary.
I'm sure Jesus did not want to feel the pain that came with each lashing, but He was pleased to do it for His Father. When I personally feel that I am going through something in my life unjustly, I look up and remember that there is nothing that can compare to the sufferings on the cross.
God can keep us on the happy path if we go to Him in prayer and ask Him to get us through our down times and our bad times. I also know that if I look to what God wants me to do, my life will be filled with joy and will have purpose. I will have a feeling of overwhelming satisfaction at the end of each day. I will have a thankful heart, which leads to a happy heart.
1 Thessalonians 5 (16-18) Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God will for you in Christ Jesus.
