In the Small Things

I am guilty of looking for large signs you know the kind I mean, the ones that light up the sky and cause goose bumps! The kind of signs that leave no room for doubt; the kind of signs that have God’s name plastered all over them!

Ever so often I see one of those signs, but more often than not, it is In The Small Things that speak of God’s goodness. The everyday mundane things that speak of ordinariness that declares anything but!

God gave the children of Israel a small round thing to sustain them!
Exodus 16:14

God placed a rod in the hand of Moses.
Exodus 4:2

David only had 5 smooth stones in his pouch and used only one of those to slay Goliath. I Samuel 17:40

Yesterday I’d spent the day praying for a situation! I started out with heaviness but pushed through with praise and worship! God’s promises flooded my mind and by the time I pulled into my driveway I knew everything was going to be all right. As I was getting out of the car my landlord approached me. Now keep in mind I had said nothing to this man nor had I asked God for a sign (that He hadn’t forgotten us).

This sweet little man says, “Does your daughter have enough wood to keep her and her little boy warm?” I told him they were fine for now and he let me know that he has plenty of wood for her (he’s 84 and still goes into the mountains to chop would for the neighborhood) I thanked him and after a short conversation I headed into my house, just as I put my foot on the step I heard the Lord speak so softly, “See I am even concerned about the small things, I haven’t left you.”

You see God cared enough to speak to me through my landlords offer. It was a small thing that spoke volumes. Had I not been attentive I might have missed the message!

God loves you just as much! He cares about every detail of your life! You may think it is a small thing and how could God possibly care about such mundane areas of your life, but He does!

But even the very hairs of your head are numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than the sparrows. Luke 12:7

Lord, thank you for caring about the intricate details of our lives. Thank you for loving us enough to speak to us in the small things. Lord there are many today who feel they have been abandoned; they pray and it seems the heavens are as brass. We know that You haven’t left them or forsaken them, but Lord we humbly ask that you would speak to them today – if only in a small way – but let them know You are concerned about every detail of their lives! We ask this in Jesus name, AMEN
