Before you stands a broken man,
a life that’s gone astray
Who always did the best he can
in this world of decay
And no matter how he tried to live
his life apart from sin
The flesh seemed more attractive
and got the best of him

The whole world was his playground,
his downfall if you will
His mortal soul, the battleground
between good and evil
As he watched his life disintegrate
before his very eyes
It took a little twist of faith
To make him realize

One morning he awoke
and couldn’t find the night before
He lost it somewhere in between
the bottle and the door
He heard a church bell ringing
like the one inside his head
And joyous voices singing
as he crawled out of his bed

Then suddenly to his surprise
was not the slightest sound
He rubbed the bourbon from his eyes
to take a look around
And like a vision she appeared
just inside the door
The sweetest scent pervaded
as she sauntered cross the floor

For as he looked upon her
his heart began to weep
'Twas the daughter that God gave him
but didn't let him keep
She smiled as she came closer,
then she whispered in his ear
"I love you daddy, do not fear
for God is always near"

He wondered, was he dreaming
as he gazed upon her face
Can this be really happening,
then he felt her warm embrace
And like a moment she was gone
along with his despair
Then looking down he found
a single red rose lying there

And as he held within his hand
that single rose of red
With true repentance in his heart
these were the words he said
Before you stands a broken man
a life that's gone astray
who always did the best he can
in this world of decay

I come now Lord before You
and I kneel before Your Throne
To offer up my everything,
my heart, my flesh and bone
And when he finished he arose
his senses quite aware
The sweet fragrance of AbbeyRose,
still lingered in the air
