The click Poem

I suppose it should click,
That when I made a choice to follow you
I would have to deny the world, rather the things of this world
To live by the spirit and not the flesh
To realise that no longer do I belong to myself but to you
That in all I do I must live out the Kingdom lifestyle
Allowing you to be Lord of every facet of my life
To realise that by denying me and loving you
I simply love myself because you loved me first.


I suppose it should click,
That when I made a choice to become a Christian
To have myself called by the name of Christ
It meant that I was set apart
I was born of God and called according to his purpose.
It meant that my life and my future was taken care of
The author of life and my faith was in the drivers’ seat.
It meant that no longer is it my will that will win
However, the Fathers’ will who cares about me.

I suppose it should click,
That no longer am I a servant in your eyes
But a son, to share in all the Fathers inheritance
That you have loved me with an everlasting love
That I can call on you anytime and you would be right there
You both precede and follow me.
That in whichever situation I put myself into
You will never fail me nor abandon me.

I suppose it should click,
That I will have to die in order for you to raise me again
Die to self and live in you.
To understand that this process will not be easy
It will be a time of pain and plucking out of all worldly things
You will change my heart and give me a new one
That you will remove all my slag and impurities
Moreover, make me whole, complete and satisfied in your sight.

I suppose it should click,
That there will be times when you will like to teach me something
That every lesson learned might not be easy to understand.
That there will be times when you will need to put something in me
That, that impartation will only happen in a storm.
To understand that I must suffer in this life just as you suffered
That the world will hate me just as it hated you
That I will suffer insults, calamities and hardships
Nevertheless, for your sake there is a great reward.


I suppose it should have clicked,
That the blessings and the favour come with being your child
That everything that I go through works together for my good
That in everything that I touch I will prosper in coming and in going
That I will be guided by you and advised by you.
That you will renew my strength everyday
In addition, your joy shall sustain me.
That you will fight for me, when I am weak
That you will argue my case and take my side
That you will protect me from any weapon aimed at me by the evil one
That you will raise me and give all nations of the world.

It should have clicked my Lord,
Nevertheless, I am yet to grow,
To find more confidence in you and trust you more everyday.
To understand instead of being overwhelmed,
To walk in forgiveness instead of revenge
To love because you are love
To tell the truth even though lies are told about me
To realise that your gracious favour is all I need
To walk in holiness for you are holy
To walk in compassion and gratefulness
To pray and never stop calling on you to save me.
