This is my last weeks's challenge entry. I think sometimes you have challenge people, then you have regular article people. So I wanted to share with everyone.

The Celebration Of My Soul

I lay down in hopeless sorrow,
My burdens too many to bare.
So weary, lost and un-forgiven
I began to plead in prayer;

“Dear Jesus, I know it’s been a while
Since You have heard from me.
I’ve been trying to live my life alone,
In desperate misery.

I can’t go on, please accept my request
For Your mercy and Your grace.
I’m asking Lord, for Your forgiveness
Of my sins and my disgrace.”

Exhausted from my tears and pain,
My flesh gave in to sleep.
At last, I sensed His tender touch
Before falling into the deep.

At first dawn when I awakened
In the stillness of the morn.
My soul sang praises to the One
Who offered my life, reborn.

With my senses still a bit foggy,
Bliss of slumber not yet gone
My heart burst into celebration,
In the silence of the dawn.

I had dreamt of walking in heaven
With my Savior’s hand in mine.
Sweet music in the realms thereof
Much too glorious to define.

Jesus was the light of that place
All about, His glory shone.
Jewels sparkling in His light,
No darkness there, was known.

The beauty and fragranced aroma
Of the love this land contained.
Overflowing with His forgiveness
Saints worshipping, unrestrained.

Angelic devotion and adoration rang out
For God’s own sacrificed Lamb.
Heavenly melodies majestic, assembled
For the great I AM.

My joy was more than imaginable,
Such glorious fellowship divine.
My Bridegroom then embraced me
He said “Come, let us dine.”

“But Lord, I am not worthy,”
I replied with down-cast eyes
“To be here in Your presence,
To partake in Your eternal prize.”

He took my face in His tender hands
Which bore the scars of old.
“Daughter, I have paid the price
For your treasure, to behold.

You have been made righteous,
My blood was shed for you.
Your sins have all been washed away,
Your heart is now brand new!”

As I woke from this heavenly dream
I could almost hear the sounds,
A melody of worship so rapturous
In the place where love abounds.

“Thank You Lord, for this vision,
For making Your presence known.
I praise You for my forgiveness,
For the love You have shown.”

Now the celebration of my soul
Sings of Amazing Grace!
Grace that promises everlasting life
And the glory of my Savior’s face.

Tis the sweetest melody I know,
Of His grace, oh so cherished!
Freely given to this sinful wretch
Who truly should have perished.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see…....

Amen!

Julia,
This is beautiful.
I especially identify with
"Tis the sweetest melody I know,Of His grace, oh so cherished! Freely given to this sinful wretch
Who truly should have
perished."
So many times I have asked myself WHY?

Dear Julia,
I can't tell you how glorious and beautiful I think this poem is! It will bring joy to everyone who reads it... also hope. Thank you for sharing this. You are right... I never would have seen it just as a challenge article. I am new and do not know how that works, but it is a winner in my book. The best I've read from you!
