Faith
When the Lord spoke to me on that hot summer day, I really did not want to hear what He said. I even argued with the Lord. I was praying in the car while driving into town. We had been living in New Mexico for about a year and a half.
I have always tried to be honest with the Lord. He already knows my thoughts so why no be honest.
I was praying about our move to California. We found out a good year in advance that we would be moving so I should have accepted the move long before I did. There have been many times that I have been excited about moving but this time I was not. The Lord and the Air Force did not give us a choice. If Bob wanted to go back to college and work on his doctorate, he would have to do it in Monterey, CA at the Naval Post Graduate School.
I was worried about the kids going to the California schools. You can teach just about anything in most towns there but Christianity. I thought, “Will the mess that is allowed in the schools change my children or even drive them from God.” As it turns out the schools they ended up in are pretty good ones.
As I agonized in prayer for my children (which was really fear) I thought, “Lord are you sure. I even thought, “Lord you must have lost your mind.” The Lord then said something I could not fight or argue with. He said, “Because of revival.”
I want revival in my life and my family. The question is what will I pay for it. (Luke14:28-30) Am I willing to go through some persecution, misunderstanding, and loneliness?
Our pastor, at the time, had been preaching a lot about revival and the cost of it. Revival starts with the church sometimes years in advance before many souls will be brought in. It is hard almost back breaking work to lay the foundation for a mighty Holy Ghost revival. You do a lot of prayer, fasting, and outreach. You continue this cycle until the Lord sees that your local church is ready for revival. If the church is not ready, the new babes won’t make it.
I am still learning that “I can do all things through Christ which stengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13 is true even when I’m filled with fear. I may have no friends where I live or no one who understands what it’s like to move often. I do know now that Jesus is really the only friend I need sometimes. I also realize that through loneliness, I will become a lot closer to God. He will also teach me great truths from His Word.
Yes, the Lord does know what He’s doing and He has not lost His mind. (Thank God) “For I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13.
