The Mystery Remains
Accepting that Your love for me was real,
and not some fairy tale,
didn't come easy to me.
I've met a lot of patient people in my life,
but none so patient
as to write a love song on the tablet of my soul
and then carry me away to a place of solitude
just so I'd be able to hear the whispers
of its tender melody.
You sing over me a song
of everlasting grace.
The wine is no longer bitter to my tongue,
but a sweet kiss from heaven on my lips,
leaving me to thirst for more.
"Blessed are you,"
You sing,
"for you thirst..."
The mystery remains,
how You could love someone like me.
But You do, greater than truly,
and I suppose that's all I'll ever need to know.
It's a so-called "fairy tale" come true.
But there is no happy ending.
There is, in fact, no end to Your love at all.
Those are the depths and the heights.
I close my eyes and plead,
"Carry me away again."
And You sing.
And You sing.
