The worth of the gold’s
Revealed in the fire;
The sweetness of the water
Is known by a taste;
A man’s heart is divulged
When he’s lost in his ire,
And it may become clear
Before God what’s his place;

What is a man’s worth,
If not known by his words?
His thoughts are revealed,
And he’s shown for who he is;
He may show his mind
To be an angry dirge,
Or he may just reveal to us,
Just who’s this lord of his;

The rage of man is seen today
In his worst of times;
Anger only reveals a desire
To be the master of all;
By his words we have seen
What are his spiritual climes;
He gropes for things that are not his,
For fear is his heart’s call;

He desires to take and hold,
To reign o’er what’s in his sight;
He seeks and plunders
For fear he’s not in control;
He seeks to prove himself
As god with all his might,
And this has been the story
From times long past and old.
