I John 4:1-21
Focus I John 4:20
Many of us say we love God and really think we mean it, but if we truly loved Him wouldn't we show it by how we treat His children (the saved and unsaved alike)? A simple smile, a warm hello, a hug or warm enbrace, a phone call to someone ill or shut-in, a visit and even a helping hand for someone in need. All of these things show our true love for Jesus. He sacrificed so much for us and asks so little! Can we not do the things we know to do, to show Him that our love is real and not just words out of our mouths? We can wake up and start our day and never say a word of kindness or show "sincere" love. Our kiss goodbye is a habit we don't even think about anymore. We can go to work and everyone there knows we profess Christ as our Savior. And yet, we not only don't show His love in us; we show attitude, bad temperment and even worse a cold indifference toward our co-workers. Now this may not be all the time but we have to remember that we may be the only "bible" some may read. It is when we have the true love of God down in our hearts and we truly love Him, that it comes natural for us to show His love through us to His people. God does not discriminate in who He loves and He doesn't want us to either! Let's make it a vow to God and to ourselves to show true Christ-like love to others today. And not just friends and family, that's easy (for most of us), but to those we don't like, those who are unfriendly and unkind, those we don't know or don't know well, those who mistreat us. Romans 12:9-21 confirms this. God's love is a universal love and ours should be the same. God bless and keep you in His perfect peace. I love you in Christ!
P.S. Don't forget, pick up the phone and call someone you haven't talked to in a long time, just to say I love you. Go by that person's house that's sick or shut-in and clean up for them, cook for them or take them to the store. Or even go to that co-worker that no one talks to or associates with and show them some love. Don't be concerned with how they will respond, be concerned about how God will respond.
And remember, God loves you and so do I!
