My idea of a false Prophet changed this morning.

For years I would always go back to Matthew 7:15 concerning a prophet, which says "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits." The Lord revealed to me that the "fruits" spoken of here actually refer to more than just "deeds." This also refers to their "doctrine."

Let me explain

I see people who claim to be prophets who seem to be all that a Christian should be, and the Lord revealed to me that "seeming to be all that a Christian should be" is the 'sheeps clothing.' He revealed to me that I had gotten the clothing confused with the fruit!

There have been things that some who claimed to be prophets would say or do that they claimed God had said or directed them to do, which would raise red flags for me. By that I mean that I got HUGE checks in my spirit!!! Not only could I not back up what the prophet had said with the written Word of God the written Word of God actually taught against it!

I know that God would not speak something to us today that went against His written word, yet time and time again I have read or heard of a "Word from the Lord" which completely contradicted scripture. This caused confusion within me, especially when the clothing was so nice.

The Lord spoke to my confusion this morning and cleared it up for me once and for all giving me much needed closure. In recent months I have sought Godly counsel from well known and respected prophets, who agreed with me that these were cases where these self-described prophets were NOT hearing from God, but nothing ever made it all so clear as what the Lord revealed to me this morning about this. Bear with me, this might get long, for which I can not apologize because this is a very important matter and I do not take it lightly.

In Matthew16:12 it says,"Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees." What struck me about this verse most was remembering that, although the Pharisees "look" like they are doing all the right things (their clothing is right), their doctrine was corrupt.

In addition to that, I was led to Matthew 7:22-23 which says "Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

So these people were not only looking like they had it all together, they were doing miracles as well! (there is that clothing again!). They had the supernatural operating in their lives and thought that the ability to operate in the supernatural was confirmation of their prophetic gift and direction.

But, Mark 13:22 says that "false Christ's and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."

And dont be fooled if they have people saying great things about them or if they have people who believe in them and trust them. Otherwise they could never be able to deceive them!

Luke 6:26 says "Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for so did their Fathers to the false prophets!"

This morning I realized the very reasons that I was second guessing the check in my spirit, and giving some of these prophets the benefit of the doubt, were the very reasons I should listen to that check and search the matter out!

You are to receive a prophet for a prophets reward, says Matthew 10:4, but that does not mean you have to receive a prophets words if they are not God's. If you tell certain people who claim to be prophets that something they said or did seemed not to mesh with the written Word of God, in my experience, they would kindly tell you that they are not to argue with you, they are just to deliver the message.

I have even heard some say that it doesnt have to be confirmed or held up against the written word of God because it was spoken through God's prophet!

Yet in 1 Corinthians 14:29 says "Let two or three Prophets speak, and let the others judge."

In verse 37 Paul says (of the guidelines clearly laid out in this chapter on spiritual gifts and how they are to be conducted)
that "If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord."

God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Obviously humans don't change much either, because the next verse (38) says "But if anyone disregards or does not recognize that it is a command of the Lord, he is disregarded and not recognized he is one whom God knows not."

Let us pray to never disregard the written Word of God. Verse 38 above is from the Amplified version because I wanted to make sure I had a proper understanding of the use of the word "ignorant" used in the NJKV. (But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.)

I keep hearing in my spirit that some "have exchanged the Word of God for a lie" and all I can do is pray and say "It is time for you to act, O Lord, for they have regarded your law as void."(Psalm 119:126)

I have seen prophets prophecy that which did not come to pass, yet still they are received as a prophet. They offer all kinds of excuses for why their words did not come to pass, or they will even go so far as to tell you that their words did come to pass! Don't think they won't be afraid to lie. And in most cases no one ever calls them on it. No one says a word. They just look the other way.

Disregarding the instructions regarding them as void.

Anyone at all can go sign up to a group, or website where prophecies are posted, and post their prophecies. Anyone.

It's up to the reader to discern and hold it up to the light of Gods Word.

Just because they post a word on a prophecy site does not make them trustworthy, or their words true, or from God, or even make them a prophet for that matter. Most of the time the people hosting these sites don't even realize what is being posted, and that was obvious to me recently because I saw one site used clearly as a blog by a poster instead of a prophecy, although it was categorized as prophecy! It truly seemed to be just a way to proclaim their own glory and lift themselves up!

1 John 4:1 says "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

John speaks here of teachers who promote error. Its not that they are possessed by evil spirits, but they are listening to, and obeying evil spirits, and for the most part, they do not even realize it.

And please remember; if it weren't for the grace of God, it could be you and I.

Each of us should pray for protection from deception. Each of us should be eager to discern properly the things we hear. We are all capable of being deceived. Our enemy is clever he knows exactly how to get your attention and how to attract you to people and/or things. Bury Gods Word in your heart, and like someone said in a bulletin yesterday, "Get into the Word of God until the Word of God gets into you." Hold everything up to the light of the written Word.

A TRUE Prophet is one who receives direct revelation from God a false prophet will CLAIM to have direct revelation from God but in fact they promote erroneous ideas.

Their teachings and "words" do not always line up with the truth of Gods written Word. If the Word of God says "honor your mother and father" and someone is telling you not to, that's erroneous. If the word of God says "Wives submit yourselves to your husbands" and someone advises you to go against your husband, that's erroneous teaching.

If it's not HIS WORD, it's not HIS word.

I knew a man once who meant well, but he didn't know the Word of God yet he longed to hold bible study and he wanted to help people and do things for God I watched as he would "counsel" people according to his own opinion, his own thoughts, his own beliefs as he held a BIBLE in his lap. I'm sure these people assumed the words he said came from that bible, but they didn't. I know for a fact this man never read that bible, but his heart's intent was not evil. So they can mean well do not ever assume they are evil or leading people astray on purpose.

If you say "Thus sayeth the Lord," please take heed to Revelations 22:9, which says

"For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

Be careful. Be sure.

"Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall."
(1 Corinthians 10:12)

Brothers and Sisters our enemy knows that we are not dumb. These things would have to be in the right clothing in order to trick us.

So what do we do to protect ourselves? We keep ourselves in the written Word of God.

"As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him."
(Psalm 18:30)

The more you read the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal it's meaning to you, the more quickly you will find yourself becoming unsettled when something does not line up with the Word of God properly. If you are not rooted and grounded in God's Word, you might never even notice at all if something doesn't line up, it can sound SO good.

Whatever you do, don't turn the other way or believe something just because someone you trust says it. Search out the matter, and find out if the ONLY ONE you should trust agrees with it, by finding out what He spoke about it in His written Word. Even from Paul and Silas' teaching, the Word says that the disciples "received the word with all readiness and SEARCHED THE SCRIPTURES daily to find out WHETHER these things were so."
(Acts 17:11)

It is a HUGE thing to say "Thus saith the Lord." HUGE. It should NOT be taken lightly, it should not be spoken presumptuously. A prophets every thought, and idea, and word, is not directly from God. Though they are a prophet, they are still human and therefore capable of error. However we should not judge a person calling him or herself a prophet, and who does not speak God's truth, for we do not know their hearts:

For "Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand." Romans 14:4.

We are, however, to judge their words. If their words do not line up with the Word of God and the teaching therein, we are to DISMISS their "prophecy" and -

"note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple."
Romans 16:17-18

"And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, 'Hear the word of the LORD!" Thus says the Lord GOD: "Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!" "Likewise, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; prophesy against them..."
"...I will also tear off your veils and deliver My people out of your hand, and they shall no longer be as prey in your hand. Then you shall know that I am the LORD."... "Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life. Therefore you shall no longer envision futility nor practice divination; for I will deliver My people out of your hand, and you shall know that I am the LORD."

therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth.

And righteousness the plummet;
The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
And the waters will overflow the hiding place.

JOB 12:22
He reveals mysteries from the darkness
and brings the deepest darkness into the light.
