Not quite finished in revising this one. I also wrote this one a couple years ago. It is my longest poem and I'm still not too sure about the flow of it, some words and sentences I think I might change so if anyone has any "constructive" comments on what sounds good and what may need a little tweeking please email me at [email protected]


Journey

I felt the pains of a thousand immortal souls
I felt their pain amongst my own
Not knowing when the new dawn would come,
or if I would be trapped forever in the midnight of my hell.
Life and its numerous corridors
each one unfolding a mysterious story.

I remember the sun shining upon my face
The feel of the earth rotating as breath left and entered my body
The individual parts of a flower...
Each person telling their own unique story
Corridors...
I had felt the joys of a thousand immortal souls
I had felt their joy amongst my own

My heart bled with guilt
I felt my soul above me but did not know how to reclaim it back within me
The sun was shining upon my face
but its warmth I could not embrace
Nightmares dangled in the depths of my mind
voices taunting...
"You strayed from Home"
Not knowing how to stop the encouraging jeers to continue in my hell
I cried out in anguish
"Lord, have mercy on me!
I have created my own hell!"
Corridors...
I felt the pains of a thousand immortal souls
I felt their pain amongst my own

Learning how to swim again
Stretching my arms above me
fighting
grasping for a hold
the waters hand not meeting my own
Gravity tries to keep me down
My thoughts in a battle against my hell
Angels fighting, praying for my dawn
The end of midnight in another corridor
Slowly remembering the joy of a thousand immortal souls
I begin to feel joy amongst their own.
Learning how to laugh
how to dance
how to just "be"
New corridors revealed, the dawn has come, and love has found me.
I share a piece of my soul.
I felt the joys of a thousand immortal souls
I felt their joy amongst my own.

Fear resists love
Friends become strangers
a new, yet familiar corridor slowly envelops me
Not midnight
or the dawn
Dark
Coldness
Sinking
Trapped
The Resurrection of my past
Memories fill my mind
Choices come before me
The dawn or the night?
I do not know which way to go.
Once again,
I felt the pains of a thousand immortal souls
Once again,
I felt their pain amongst my own.

Corridors
Choices
What is the point?
Hell returns to continue its souless chant...
A scream comes from within my being
"No reunions
Must search for the dawn!
I refuse to be a victim!
I refuse to live in midnight!
I'm coming Home...
I'm coming Home."

Now,
I feel the joys and pains of a thousand immortal souls
I feel their joy and pain among my own.
My journey continues
I have entered a new corridor.
I have new choices
I am walking down a new path
I do not know what awaits me
midnight or the dawn
All I know is that I'm fighting to return to my Home.
