Outside my Window

It was a cold night, with the moon way above in the sky;
The bungalow was pitch-black, I was afraid of my own fright.

The annoying sounds of insects, crawling through the leaves;
Pierced my ears, as they whispered to the breeze.

That breeze got violent, raising my fear;
I heard a heap of dust, fly through the air.

I lifted my blanket, over my petrified face;
When my ears picked up, the sound of footsteps.

A twig cracked, then the sound instantly ceased;
The silence that followed, wasn’t of any peace.

Horror itched my throat, then it began to grow;
When I heard the scratching noise, upon the window.

My body froze, then it began to vibrate;
I was so afraid to move, but my mind couldn’t wait.

I jumped up and pulled across the curtain, to see what I can see;
I felt so foolish, staring at the branch of our breadfruit tree.
