It is all over the news, in fact you can't escape it. Mel Gibson said this, Mel did that. Is this story so important that it needs to be broadcast all the time? Yes Mel has problems, who doesn't? What Mel did and what Mel say will not change the way I think of him. I am still going to support him and I will still see his movies. And that got me thinking.

Why are we not more transparent with our lives? What I mean by this is why are we not more open with our problems? I mean if we admit we have a problem it won't be broadcast on CNN, but your friends might gossip. The truth is we are scared to admit we are haunted or tempted by things because we're afraid we won't be accepted for who we really are. We think just tell everyone you're alright, even if you're not, I mean why would they care. And even if they did, is it worth giving up my reputation for it?

I know having a problem is hard enough, gosh I have battled addictions with lust for years. But when you come out and admit you have a problem, it's liberating. Because you trust enough in the Lord to admit you have a problem to others. There are times that I am not alright, there are times I hate myself, there are times I can't believe what I say or do, but that's me. I cannot change that, and God won't change it either unless I accept who I am. Accepting who you are is just the first step toward becoming the person God wants you to be.

We need to be more transparent with our lives sharing our faults. Christian aren't superheroes, we don't have everything figured out and we're not perfect. The only thing that separates us from the rest of the world is the blood of Jesus that saved us from ourselves. There are times we are not alright and it is in those times that we need to admit it. Instead of hiding behind the person we want to be, we should accept oursleves for who we are.
