I spent much of yesterday afternoon reading the Bible. I was working on something, yet, I was also feeling disconnected. I felt like I needed to go back to the Source and spend a little more time than I have lately. I read a posting here that was so right on target, about not getting so busy about doing the Lord's work that He gets lost in the shuffle. It hit the nail on the head.

I have favorites that I return to over and over again. I suppose we all do. I love the story of Jesus on the cross, with a sinner on either side. This day, you will see paradise, Jesus tells one of them. This isn't a quote, I am paraphrasing, but just think of it! Wow! I love Proverbs. I love Matthew. I know most people's favorite gospel book is John, and I love it too. There's just something about the book of Matthew that touches me. Maybe it's the Sermon on the Mount. I love all the little shorter books in the New Testament so much that I read those very often. I confess, I know some things about the Old Testament, but not as much as I should. I heard someone say once that we all better find out who those people are or else we'll get to Heaven, run into them, and NOT EVEN KNOW WHO THEY ARE! If I don't delve deeper into the OT, this is MY future!

How could a person pick a favorite book out of this collection? I think parts of the whole Bible will speak to me for the rest of my days. I don't have to read them anymore to 'see' them. They are forever imprinted in my soul.
