I yell, request and I cry
I look up
And wonder why

Am I alone to walk or stand
I see no prints
Upon the sand

The preachers bellow and say to me
Do not worry
With you he’ll be

But as I trod into the night
I feel the cold
I see the fright

To my left and to the right
Those that limp
Or have no sight

Where is God amongst the fear
Why doesn’t He see
Why can’t He hear

My child, my child, you’ve never known
How it feels
To stand alone

The mental illness and all the pain
Upon my flesh
Did all hell rain

There is nothing that I miss
Why do you doubt
Things like this

Yes, there’s hardship and there’s pain
I never promised
It wouldn’t rain

Understand and listen clear
Next to you
I’m always near



Lift your head, wash your face
And see my loving
Saving grace
