Springs Of Living Water

On the drive towards northern Iraq, one could see the grass is brown, flowers are withered and crops in the fields looked sick and near death. The trees, on the other hand, were just as green and healthy-looking as trees anywhere in the well-watered eastern parts of the United States. Even though the trees were subjected to the same lack of rainfall and the same scorching 100 plus degree temperatures as the other plants, they flourished. One explanation for their vitality is that their roots reached deep into the harsh Iraqi soil to touch the life giving waters of underground streams. So the harsh conditions of the Iraqi summer left the trees calm, nourished and unaffected.
I know a number of people, who respond positively to harsh conditions like these Iraqi trees, don’t you? Individuals who have calm, poised and serene dispositions that are undisturbed by external conditions, situations or circumstances. Such persons stand tall against the storms of life with enough stamina to deal with the disturbances that occur in the lives of others. They have found deep within the terrains of their hearts and souls, the stream of Living Water—Jesus Christ—the Savior, the Prince of Peace, the Everlasting Father. When and if we ask such individuals, they tend to say that they boldly approach those calm depths after going through hard bedrock, broken roots, and damaging storms. Nonetheless, such persons also indicate they keep reaching and digging until they reach the water in their underground streams through their daily renewal of their relationship with the Lord.
Are you trees or grass? If you are not satisfied with your life and trying to find yourself without Christ, you never will find your life or peace. Also, if you are struggling with your spiritual circumstance as well, why not pause, through the hustle and bustle or daily living and root to the depths of your being where God dwells in you. Cut through the hard bedrock that surrounds you and claim the peace of the Living Water found only in Jesus Christ. Then, as you go through the remainder of your day, you will be able to deal with or speak to the hardships, challenges and losses to calmly face conditions many cannot bear. He will give you the power to calm the raging seas and storms in your life and the ability to help others to do the same by your God-filled life and His example.
