The phoenix fell, consumed in fire;
Travesty, too sick’ning to bear;
She was the subject of darker ire,
Fell prey to the god of the air;

Yet the fallen bird has taken flight,
A flight to fight within this age;
But it flies by another Might,
And flies to fight with heavenly rage;

Fight with light, holy and bright,
The Lord has held you aloft;
Let His joy be in your sight;
Bask in the Spirit, gentle and soft;

The air about you, scented and clean;
Myrrh and aloes, cassia fine;
The scent of the Lord, so far from mean,
Upholds you so, as He is kind;

Take the vision, and fly with it,
Consume the grace that’s given you;
Feed upon food of holy writ,
And fly e’er beyond eternal blue!
