From a collection of writings under the title, "Living Water".

JACOB’S WELL

I waited until the others were gone,
Then I headed down to the well.
It’s a lonely trek, done all alone
With no one my stories to tell.

There was a man sitting nearby
Who looked very tired to me.
He spoke to me, a Samaritan woman!
But there was no one around to see.

This man asked me to draw him water-
He had nothing to draw his own.
The Jew’s words were so confusing,
But it was only compassion shown.

He knew my past and all my sin
Yet he spoke with gentleness to me!
This man must be a prophet
For there’s no other reason I see.

He said if I knew who he was
I’d ask for his Living Water!
I asked him then where it is found
And then I became His Daughter!

For this was the true Messiah
Who we’d all been waiting for!
He told me then that “I am He”-
His eyes looked to my core!

I ran to the village telling all,
How many were saved I cannot tell!
All I know is my Savior and I
Had a chat at Jacob’s well.
