Once in a while, I just want to reach out and smack someone.

As hard as it is to admit, the person I most want to wollop is--ME!

There. I said it.

I feel better already.

I'll dare to repeat myself. I annoy myself often. I can get away from other people when they fracture my nerves, but I cannot escape myself. 'ME' follows me everywhere I go.

What's a gal to do?

It makes me wonder if I annoy God. We all certainly annoy other people at times(be honest, you know you do occasionally), as well as ourselves. Yet, I don't think it is possible for us to annoy God. Thankfully, He doesn't look at us the way we look at ourselves.

Our critical, self-centered eyes and minds are generally trained upon ourselves. We think, 'Why did I say that? Why did I do that? Why do I look like I do? WHY DID I WEAR THIS?!' Why, why, why? Why do we worry like this-nobody is really paying any attention to us anyway!

If we aren't centered on ourselves, we tend to target others. I think we do this when we get tired of picking ourselves apart. We can't seem to look ourselves in the eye at this point, and we don't want anyone else to either.

"Yes, I did (insert your crime here), but just listen to what (insert anyone but you here) did!"
In your mind, anything they did is worse than what you did, so you focus on them. It allows for a tiny mental escape. I know how it works. I've done it myself.

Only, it doesn't work. It makes you feel worse about yourself.

You will be convicted. Jesus will whisper in your ear. He will remind you that He doesn't approve of gossip. He will remind you to look up.
Train your eyes on Him.

He will remind you in the midst of your 'I hate me' moment that He loves you. He made you. He died for you. And you are important.

If that doesn't stop your self-loathing in its tracks, well, I just don't know what will.

Its not about you. Or me.

Its about Him. How could you not love something He created? This includes yourself. You don't have to be perfect. You can't be perfect.

God loves you anyway.

Be kind to yourself.
