The Future of the Church
I just came from our Wednesday night service and I am so excited and pumped up for Jesus! Tonight, some of the teenagers in our youth department officiated the entire services. I was amazed at the talent God has given these young men and women and how He is working in their lives.
We have a youth class of about 80 plus members. Our entire church only has about 350 active members so this tells you how important our youth is to the body of our church. They just returned from Senior Camp and are now getting ready to participate in World Baptist Youth Conference held at Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, Texas. This is where they compete with other area church youths in many categories.
The kids do biblical skits/dramas, musicals performances, Preaching, and Bible mania; they study entire books of the bible and then are quizzed on them. We have about seven young men who have surrendered to full time ministry. Three of those preached tonight. We also have several young men and women who have surrendered to the mission field. It was such a blessing to see these teenagers sharing their hearts for the cause of Christ. With so many teenagers in trouble and going down the wrong road in life, it blesses me so to see young people who are truly committed to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Some of these kids come to church alone, their parents don’t come with them. Tonight was a chance for those parents to see how God is working in their children’s lives. You could feel the awesome presence of the Holy Spirit in the service. He worked through those kids tonight in an beautiful way.
As I was sitting there absorbing the magnificence of it all, I was thinking; this is the future of the church and what a wonderful future it will be with committed teenagers such as these! I pray these kids will stay forever true to their calling. I pray God will stay in the center of their being and they will always put Him first. Jesus built His church on the Rock - nothing can tear it down. It will stand until He comes back for us all! Until that day, please pray with me for the future of the church. Amen.
