Heart is a basket of swallowing darkness;
Joy is elusive before me now,
But You are there; I know it;
I don't feel You, but that's alright;
I have Your truth, Your Word;

Your promises are my guardrail;
I can lean against them,
And feel steadfast;

I need no hope,
I'm fine without faith;
I have You to keep me,
In Your elusive right hand;

Yet, You're not elusive;
My heart is,
and is the most dangerous part of me;
I keep it nailed on dry wood;

Take the most fervent heat,
And weld me to Your heart;
Burn me into everlasting grace and joy,
And let me see all that You have for me,
For Your glory;

I sense a breakthrough coming;
Without seeing it,
I know it's there;

Stand fast, O my soul,
And bear the dark within;
He knows you, and He keeps you;
Wait upon Him,
And He will bring it to pass;

Be my Shield; my great Reward;
My Inheritance;

In the dark, I wait on You;
You are my delight.
