YOU THINK BEING GOD IS FUN?...POEM

Just suppose you had the chance
By some amazing circumstance:
To be in charge of all you saw
To set the rules; to be the law

No one to order you about
No one to question you or doubt;
You alone to judge, apprise
Just you alone to supervise

“That sounds like God,” I hear you say
“Like Him I would have total sway;
I really think I would not mind
To be the boss of human kind”

“Mankind would surely follow me
As only I could set them free;
I’d care for them as God has done
I’d have to say it would be fun”

But take a moment to reflect;
Your memory’s poor, I do suspect
For God has trod this path before
Now let me recollect the score

From Adam on we’ve dropped the ball
Just haven’t got it right at all
God must have shook his head in awe
At all the failures that he saw

The Bible lists man’s sorry plight
And God’s attempts to set us right;
God tried his hardest, it is true
To do His best for me and you;

Can you improve what God has done?
Can you a better program run?
If God has failed to get his due
You’ll fail, no matter what you do

So how does God this world endure
He must be sad, of that I’m sure
There’s plenty that would make Him cry
Grief and pain we can’t deny

We all fall short of God’s command
We all refuse his helping hand;
You think that being God is fun?
I doubt it, when all’s said and done
