Tell Them I Love Them


When you were a child I watched you grow,
Knowing I had called you
I rejoiced when you acknowledged my name,
For the first time
I smiled and laughed and blessed thee

When you became a young adult and rebelled
I cried as your suffering began
Your hearts at times were far from me
But I was always there, hoping you would
Turn to me and my light that was dimming
In your world

I know you are my child
I called YOU and YOU are mine
For you to open your hearts back to me,
It would only be a matter of time
For all things come in seasons and some are
Longer than wanted by both you or I
I love you and I’m always here when your
Happy or need to cry

I’m waiting for you to come to me
So I can tell you that I love you
It doesn’t matter what you’ve done
I forgive you, I am the Father’s Son
I died for you and I understand the
Temptations that present themselves
To man

But on that cross a new covenant was
Made between God and man
Whoever believes in me and is
Born again in spirit is washed clean
I am the ultimate sacrifice
I did it just for you…
No, you are not worthy
But…I love you

You see, love conquers all
Love covers a multitude of sin
Love is the greatest gift
Love is the beginning and the end
Love is why I wait for you to come,
To my Fathers throne
Love is why I have prepared a room for you
In my Father’s home

Love is why I went away
And will come back for you
Love is why I weep in your sorrow
And rejoice in your blessings
Love is why I wrote this poem so you could see
That love is the Basis for creation
And all that the Father wants it to be

So hang on to His word, It is sharp
Like a double edged sword
That cuts down to the marrow
And splits through the joints
Seek my face and truth
But most of all understand the depths
Of my forgiving, trusting,
Never ending Love for you, my child

I have not forsaken you
You are more precious than the birds
And I will continue to take care of you
Because…I love you
