Well, it's here!!! -06-06-06 or 666. It is now 1:48 PM and the world is still perking along, and I am still poking along.

A short lived cottage industry sprouted up on the many ideas concerning the numerical implications of this.

Babies were taken from their mothers on yesterday rather take the risk of birthing an 'Omen' child. Las Vegas was taking bets on whether or not today was it, the reversal of the big bang and thus the end of the world.

Some groups were/are fighting about the correct translation of the Greek word for 666, which is the center of sometimes bitter debate. The Greek equivalent of the Hebrew consonants adds up to 666. Thus the meaning is clear. Sure. Shows how much you know about religion. Of course the Latin form of the Hebrew Nero Caesar adds up to 616. Are you still with me? Brave soul you are.

Much is said about the number, we know from the scripture it is the number of a man's name. It is clearly NOT the mark of the beast, as Rev. 13:17 states, "And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

So, three possibilities are mentioned, a mark, a name, or a number. While much ado is made of the number, what does the name or mark represent? Think about it.

Okay, I don't know either, other than one time shortly before Joyce and I were married 42 years ago, when we came home from a date, her mother accused her of having the mark of the beast on her neck. Her dear mother knew little of eschatological teaching.

Based on rules of interpretation it is obvious that the mark, name or number are identification symbols of allegiance to the coming Antichrist. It is further provable from the scripture that said identifier will be prominently visible and will determine whether you can buy or sell, i.e., live or die.

Most biblical Christians believe the time associated with the mark of the beast is yet future. With this premise I concur.

Yet as I face today, the day the Lord hath made and given to me use for His glory, I recall that while much is made of something we can only know very little about, I can know at the end of today, that I through the grace given have let today count for the glory of Christ. I think it wise to concentrate on the things known and trust the Lord for the others. Though I must admit that most people are wrong about the number of his name, I do think that if we play with figures and the alphabet long enough we will be able to prove that Ann Coulter is the Antichrist. Ovid Need says it is Tim LaHaye.
