1 Corinthians 2:7: No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began -NIV
Yesterday was a rough day, my internet was down all day so no devotion, that gave me more time to think of what I would write today I guess it is all in God’s timing.
There is a gospel song I like that goes “He’s an on-time God…oh yes he is” it is very infectious. It goes on to say “oh he may not come when you want him, but he’ll be there just in time” This week has really brought that into focus in our family. I am sure other weeks, months or even years will be remembered in your family for just that same reason. For some of you that hasn’t happened yet but almost always there comes a time in your life when you will wonder how “on time” God is. Many people in the Bible were forced to wait for Gods time, for his Hidden Wisdom to be seen. Abraham and Sarah waited for a child. Moses waited for a burning bush. The Isrealites waited 400 years. In the New Testament the early apostles were told to wait in the city until the spirit came. Paul was held up many times in his journey all the time waiting for God's hidden wisdom. Waiting is what we are asked to do more than anything. We must wait upon the Lord. Most of the time this is easy, because most of our lives we are not in need of much. There comes a time though when waiting on his wisdom becomes hard. We sometimes despair of ever hearing his word again or if heard of ever undertanding it. The reason all these stories of waiting were put in the Bible is I believe to help us understand we are not alone. If they had to go through it then it must be very common. What is also common is that when their time of waiting was over they were given a pretty good understanding not only of the solution to thier problems, but also of why they were waiting.
When we start to complain and wonder if our time will ever come. During these times we must be very careful not to rise up against God like the Isrealites in the wilderness did. We must hold on tight to what we do remember of God’s faithfulness, his mercy, and his love for us. He has provided a way and he will be there “right on time” for our glory and for his.
