Eph4:11: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; -NIV

Today I am not really righting a devotion so much as an discussion piece. I would like to talk about personalities.

At our church some members are taking a class on personality types. There are different classes I have seen over the years but a lot of them boil down to people who are like us and people who are not and how to deal with the differences between them. Some people find it easy to get along with everyone (that is one type of personality that I find it hard to get along with). Others seem to grate on everyone (Myself for instance and I tend to be drawn to that type). There are leader types, follower types, those who like to have everything pinned down and pigeonholed and those who are carefree. There are Dominators and Example Makers, Thinkers and Doers all types and they are all here on this world together. Sometimes it makes me laugh when I think of how much fun God must have purposefully putting certain types around us and watching us react. Do we react well? I would like to think most of the time I do but the fact is mostly I don’t. Really most of us don’t. Why? Well I think it is because most of us forget that God made them too. We forget that God made Apostles and Followers, Preachers and those to be preached to. Teachers and the Taught. What would an Encourager do without those who need encouragement? Who would a prophet give Gods word too if we were all prophets? He made us all different with different personalities to allow us all to thrive and to use our potential to its max.

So next time you meet someone who is harder to get along (or who thinks you are too hard to get along with- it goes both ways -)with just remember they were put there for you (and you for them).
