Someone rightly said that people don't mind how much we know until they know how much we care. This is so right in a world that's so very much unfair. In as much as there's nothing as good as being loved, there's one thing that's far better: Loving. Loving the other is very fulfilling. It guides like a heavenly vision.
As Christians, loving the other is a mandatory command we must keep. We must be a true ambassador of Christ, who left all His Glory, in total sacrifice, just to come to earth to suffer, be humiliated and die for His friends- we. Every true lover is a glimpse of Christ.
The real language of love isn't in mere words but in its meaning. Loving is an a great intelligence that is far above any language. That's why, to a person, his greatest happiness of life is the conviction that he's loved, loved in spite of who he is.
The bible points out to us that love is immeasurable better than kindness (1 Cor 13: 3). Without it there's no need for us to be kind at all, because we'd just be doing the right and neglecting the better part: being the right kind of person. Only true love can make us do the right thing the right way and for the right motive. Love in itself is the greatest motivator in life.
It's just like a newly wedded couple. Lets say the man wants to give a lecture in a gathering that his spouse is there sited. The man would do his best for no other reason than to impress his spouse, no matter how tough the subject of the lecture. That's the same thing God wants from us. If we loved God so much, we'll do everything to please Him, even when we go through the toughest of all circumstances. And if it's others that we loved, we'll do things that wouldn't hurt them. This is the reason Jesus said to His disciples that the greatest of all commandments is Love- loving God and our neighbors as ourselves. Around it is built all other commandments.
Love is the reason for incarnation. God came in bodily form in other to experience what His creatures experience in a world so unfair. It's love that makes Him seem so far away, hidden, silent and unfair to us when we go through extraordinary circumstances in life. He loves us more than to just intervene and change our situations. His love for us is fashioned in a way that we may love Him back unconditionally, in spite of ourselves; what we go through or what He can do for us. He wants our total fidelity.
That's why the apostle Paul wrote to thee Romans that nothing in life shall separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 8:38-39).
