Dear Child of My Heart,

I know it hurts. I hear your cry for the trial to be over, the work accomplished. You want to be a finished vessel and you wonder why it is taking so long. I know it is hard for you to understand. I am still making you and I’m not finished yet, nor will I ever be, for the making of you is how I love you.

I am the Creator and I love creating. My love for you and my creation of you are intimately connected, and it is this intimacy I crave – the intimacy of a creator with his creation in the act of creating. My delight is not in the finished product, but in being with you in the process.

A finished sculpture may be beautiful but it is dead. It is good for nothing but to be placed on a shelf and looked at. What I love is the living clay that moves and changes when I touch it, that I can shape as I see fit. I probe your life with my fingers, searching out the imperfections and smoothing out the rough spots. I am happiest with you as my creation when my hands are so covered with clay that I can hardly tell where I end and you begin.

No, I will never be finished with you. I will never stop making you, for it is this intimacy with you that I seek, but it will not always be so painful. A time is coming when the hard work will be done and you will need no more pinching, or breaking, or reforming. A time is coming when a gentle caress will be all you need, for you will fit perfectly into my hand as if you were a part of me.

In this way, the reality will come which always was, for you are a part of me. The substance from which I formed you was a piece of my own heart and to my heart I will return you. What I am making for myself is a bride, and on that day you will be complete, for we will be one. Thank you, my love, for letting me hold you, for letting me mold you, and for letting me fold you into my heart.

- God

Oh, this is exquisite! The most beautifully crafted tribute to "THE PROCESS" that I've read yet. I love this: "I am happiest with you as my creation when my hands are so covered with clay that I can hardly tell where I end and you begin." I pray that you will soon publish a devotional book. This makes me fall in love with Him all over again. Bless your gift!
