Sex!sounds so forbidden and is usually spoken of in hushed tones.Sex could be going the whole way and actually doing the act or it could be indulging in acts like kissing, necking or fondling. It causes excitement, fulfillment and closeness but only if it is done right-within the marriage walls.
Here are some practical reasons why sex should be postponed till after marriage.
Because God says so. God sees sex outside marriage as the sin of fornication. Indulging in sex destroys our relationship with God. Is 5 minutes (or less) of pleasure worth that kind of price?
Distrust is likely to set in after the sexual act. You both wonder if your partner is doing the exact thing he/she did with you with someone else.Sex before marriage can jeopardize a lifetime of fidelity which could lead to loss of respect for one another. Some times people ask for sex as a test to see if one would succumb or not. Once you succumb, they lose all respect for you and see you as cheap and without morals, capable of sleeping with others just as you were ready to sleep with them.
Embarrassment and guilt is felt after the act because temperatures have cooled no more anticipation and curiosity and expectancy is satisfied.
Sex can be used as a weapon and so it is deceitful. When you constantly engage in sexual acts with a person to settle differences or cover up flaws, when you eventually get married, all the hidden flaws would spring out in the open and become a source of worry and heartache
Confusion sets in and it becomes difficult to discern love from infactuation.It becomes harder to know why your partner stays with you. Is it because the sex is good and he/she is having so much fun or is it because they really care for you?
Then there is the possibility of unwanted pregnancy, problems may arise when you try to get an abortion, diseases may spring up like aids, syphillisand gonorrhea.
Sex is not bad or forbidden, infact sex is good and it is beautiful but for us Christians,
Only within the marriage walls. Here are a few tips to help you manage the temptation to indulge in sex.
Remember that getting involved will not please God.
Refrain from acts or situations that could encourage thoughts of sex.
Be mindful of the relationships you keep. It is easier for a believer to see reasons with you than for an unbeliever.
When you find yourself in any uncompromising situation, take action, walk away. Do not wait to see reason, because when temperatures are high, you will only want to “do it” and nothing else.
Finally, trust God .If God says it’s wrong, it really is.
