Do My words offend you,
That you would leave Me?
Did your idea of Me overrule
The Christ you now see?

Does your misconception
Provoke in you disgust;
Will you walk from Salvation;
Your devotion left in dust?

I must be imbibed; must be devoured;
Your works will not save you!
Trust in me; be God-empowered;
And your life I'll renew;

What will My ascension, to you, mean;
What will it say to you of My origin?
The Spirit gives life; have you not seen?
The flesh profits you nothing but sin;

So I must ask, “Will you go away?”
Will you be left to your demise?
Will you be an eternal stray,
Left to the Lord of the flies?

If I take your dearest love,
Will you go away, ne’er to return?
If tragedy falls, coming from above,
Will My way shake you; and I be spurned?

“Where will we go?
You have the words of life;
We have come to know
That You are the Christ.”
