The Army of the Lord

This is a battle
Of the heavenly kind
When you enlisted in God’s army
Did you have warfare in mind?

Standing, watching and praying
Vigulantly marching on your knees
Wearing armour that surpasses
That of our enemies.

Daily preparation is mandetory
The frontlines must be manned
This army isn’t for the weak
The bold must take a stand.

If you joined God’s army for benefits
And what the service would do for you
You might be surprised to learn
It’s more than wearing dress blues

Submitting, loving and caring
Fruits of the Spirit must abound
For in this army of Christians
Grace, patience and kindness can be found

For God’s army of soldiers
Must love one another
As Christ so loved the world
We soldiers must love our brother

Many will apply the armour
And march in mirrored rhyme
But their works will be proven
As God’s Holy Fire refines.

Endure hardness as a good soldier (II Tim. 2:3)
Let no man deceive you by any means (II Thes. 2:3)
For the enemy roams as a lion (I Peter 5:8)
But he’s not really what he seems

Each soldier must be adorned (Ephesians 6:11)
In the armour of the Lord
Strong in His power (Ephesians 6:10 & Zechariah 4:6)
As we break down prison doors (Isaiah 61:1)

We wrestle not with flesh and blood (II Corinthians 10:3)
But war in the heavenlies
You will know this battle is being won
When you see God’s soldiers on their knees.
