Mothers Day Devo
Within the circle of a Mother’s Heart lies an unyielding capacity to endure. The desire to mother, that is, caretaker, comforter, the ability to balance all of life’s misgivings and misfortunes, is borne to them.
The resiliency of a personality to respond when hurt, disappointment, and frustration are often the menu of their everyday. It is not purposeful, it often is careless and unintentional, their response usually comes in gestures of love through endless forgiveness and ready made excuses.
When mistreatment and calloused treatment weary mothers to anger and hurt it often disperses with the first signs of remorse or awareness. They, are not a breed, given to letting a hard life fester, in the love for their children. In fact of matter, they counter with measure far beyond expectations.
A mom’s desire is to provide a world perfect from tribulations, a world free from obstacles. They want to give perfection when all the children want is for things to go “right” once in a while. Mom’s struggle to provide total protection while kids only want a smile or hug to encourage. Mom’s want for the children to never face abuse, oppression, intimidation or resentment when all the kids want is a kind word in the face of that adversity.
The inspiration for this Devo For Moms comes from lyrics in the song, “Better off As Friends”, by musicians, “The Waiting” . The lyrics,” I wanted flowers, You were buying me a ring, I wanted candy, You were giving everything”, parallel the sentiments in this writing, showing the capacity of what God gives us, compared to what we expect. Imagine, for one second, that no matter what sins you commit, there is nothing you could do to change God’s love and forgiveness for you. In some context it is the same between mothers and their children. Just as the song attributes, we are better off as friends of God and the same is true for our moms.
Praise God and give thanks for and to all the Mothers on this day and always for helping us stay the wonderfully made entities God has made us, for His own purpose and to do His Will, Amen! Happy Mother’s Day!
