Poetry
I recently wrote this for my Mother who is pretty much bedridden with crippling arthritis, diabetes and degenerative heart disease. She was always very active but time has a way of catching up with us all.
To Mama, With Love
I watch you when you’re trying to walk,
I see the pain that clouds your eyes,
I know that this immobile life,
You really must despise.
You seem so dependent, so helpless
As you lie in your hospital bed,
And none of us will ever know
How many tears you have shed.
Mama, you were the one who taught me
All through my growing up years,
To always be the best I can be
And never give in to my fears.
Whatever strength I have; came from you,
You are the strongest woman I know.
Through the many trials in your life,
Your grace has continued to flow.
I know it’s because you lean on the Lord,
And draw your inner strength from Him
It’s good to know you’ll be in heaven one day,
To know your cup will flow over the brim!
I thank God for the Mother He gave me,
You’re a blessing straight from up above.
No matter what life dishes out to you,
You’ve always been generous with your love.
You’re my very own personal cheerleader,
Encouraging me and positive in all things
And I just can’t imagine how I will cope,
When you go flying off on angel’s wings.
To let you go will be the hardest thing
I know that I will ever have to face,
So Mama, please stay around a long time,
For I need to learn more of your grace.
I sure do love you a lot, Mama
I’d take your place if only I could.
But Jesus knows your suffering, and
He said all things work together for good.
To those who love the Lord and those
Who are called according to His plan.
So don’t give up and accept defeat,
Keep on trying for as long as you can!
He loves you much more than imagined,
And He never even leaves your bedside.
He’s there with you with every painful step,
He’s counted all the tears that you’ve cried.
He alone knows the plans He has for you,
So continue trusting and asking in prayer
One day soon you just may walk again
All by yourself, without any care!
We don’t know what His purposes are,
His plans are bigger than we understand.
You’ll find out when you enter the gates,
When you walk freely in that Holy Land.
So Mama, please keep up your spirit,
It’s your spirit I love the most about you.
The “you” that will remain forever with us,
Through this life and the eternal life too!

"Numbers 6:24,25,26"
He’s counted all the tears that you’ve cried.
He alone knows the plans He has for you" Julia, your poem to your mother is awesome and full of love and adoration. The lines I highlighted above speak with truth of the great love God has for us, and He does know your mother's pain. Jesus is working on her mansion, and when He is through He will come for her to move her in. Thomas
