Almighty Awesome God -


You are without beginning or end, transcendent, infinite and eternal,
While my life is but a vapor as I spend so much precious time worrying about tomorrow.
Your power knows no bounds or limits, the mere speaking of a word created universes,
Yet I still insist on helping You out by taking matters into my own feeble hands.
You are all-wise and know all mysteries, indeed You are the well-spring of all knowledge,
Nevertheless, I am still quick to call into question Your methods.
You are ever-present. There is no place, even in the farthest reaches of the most distant galaxy, where Your presence does not permeate and Your eyes do not see.
Yet all too often, I seem to have `misplaced’ You and feel so alone.
You are the source of all light, the Father of lights, the Light of the world and of all men,
Yet too often, I grope and stumble around as if in darkness.
You are awesomely majestic and ravishingly beautiful,
Why do I spend so much time pursuing things by comparison, worthless and ugly?
Love is Your idea and Your gift because it is Your very essence and nature,
However, there are times that I feel You have set Yourself against me as an enemy.
Your faithfulness reaches beyond the heavens and is unrelenting towards me,
How foolish and quick I am to forget Your providence and become anxious.
Your mercy and grace are available to me in inexhaustible abundance,
How rarely I humble myself to drink from Your bottomless well.
You are the Author of all life and all history, everything is from You and through You and to You,
How easy it is for me to become self-absorbed while pursuing my own glory.
Why do I have such small visions of You? You are not at all like me. Yet I do bear Your image.
I have been splashing in puddles, when there are vast and boundless oceans to dive into and explore.
I have been surveying life from the top of an anthill, when there are toweringly majestic mountain ranges beckoning to be climbed.
I have been groveling on the floor for scraps that fall from your table,
Yet all the while, You have given me an open invitation to dine sumptuously from Your banquet table in the heavenly realms.
Open up my shortsighted, small visioned, earthbound eyes, so that I may see Your majestic splendor and catch a glimpse of Your glory.
Let the eyes of my soul see what cannot be seen, let me hear what cannot be heard and conceive what my limited natural mind cannot even imagine.
Assure my heart that You are for me and not against me, because You have covenanted Yourself to me in Divine matrimony, and that for all eternity my good is Your goal because it is inseparably entwined with Your glory, for which purpose all things exist and which can never be thwarted.
Sovereign LORD, relieve my fears, increase my faith, and grant me the courage to follow, as You beckon me to cross over the divide from mediocrity to a life of carefree exuberance. Displaying my trust in You by burning bridges behind me, as I give myself to You , the lover of my soul , now and forever in new and reckless abandon.
Let the world consider m
e a fool, if You, my God and my King consider me Your friend.
And if I ever forget, as I am prone to do, bring to my remembrance the proof of Your love for me and the depth of Your commitment which was displayed in the ultimate expression of love -
The cross of Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, my Lord and my God.
In whose mighty Name and for whose sake I petition You.
