PEOPLE GET READY


I spoke to one recently who began a rant, nay a tirade into the “business” end of religion. Theirs was an all too familiar argument about the deficiencies of man to hold up the “faith” end of that same religion. Let us not be deceived, the business of religion is a man made pitfall, a setup that dooms us to failure. It is the faith end that requires our commitment. This is the important part.
During this conversation this friend determined that they were not “ready” to make the necessary changes in their life to devote themselves to his faith. From my, limited view, I saw it differently. I saw there were plenty of reasons for them to do just that.
It brings to light an interesting question, what does it take for us to be ready. Certainly my suggestion to them was to get ready, to not tarry, for no one knows the time of man but God, there is no time to delay. God had placed me in this conversation and it was clear to me, what He expected of me. I took a measured breath and the words of the Good News flowed like the river of life. It was not my own cunning, but His words that I spoke. Words of direction, encouragement and compassion. I would not be sure of how convincing I was but for the Bible scripture of Isaiah that says that His words will not return unfulfilled, therefore I go forward with the confidence of God to know that the seeds that were planted would grow through the Holy Spirit according to God’s Will. Surely I am there to cultivate and nurture the growth of those seeds as God sees fit.
Another Christian devotionalist recorded it this way when speaking of what was “needed to get ready”. For thousands of believers they have what they need for a revolution, let me write again, they HAVE what they need for a revolution. They have enemies, they have martyrs, they have leadership, they have ample supplies and they have a King…… Jesus Christ, Lord of Lords.
A personal note, I was in this conversation, and then read the words of this devotionalist the next day solidifying in my mind what I had told them. The reasons to believe are evident and in everyone’s life, that is what we need to commit ourselves to a life of faith, that which we already have.
What’s to wait, the time has come…..God’s people hear God’s voice……
