Why Do They Look Away?
By Dan Blankenship

Why do they look away?
When the painter of hope paints each day
Why do they not see?
When the creator of love invigorates you and me
Why do they not hear?
When the great intercessor holds mankind so dear
Why do they not investigate?
When the king of kings destroys hate
And why do they remain hostile?
While you and I embrace the gospel

These are questions we once held onto
And now with words we hold true
We hope to display the light we discovered
We hope to share the love we’ve uncovered
And if we can remember why we once looked away
We can possibly reach the hearts and minds of others today

Dan - This is very good and thought provoking. Thanks for sharing. I think the thing that keeps one "looking away" is pride of the heart.....Such a shame, though. In Christ's Love, Julia

Good point…how to communicate our Father’s love to unbelievers (especially the ones closest to our own heart)??? How to get them to see the beautifully painted sky at sunset and the majestic mountains that stand in timeless beauty? All of which our Father has done for us…sinners. “And why do they remain hostile? While you and I embrace the gospel.” I totally don’t get the reasoning unbelievers have for that one.

Your poetry is so straight forward, no analogies or deeper meanings. :o) Thank you for sharing your work.

You have posed some good questions that deserve our looking into further for answers. Thank you. Thomas
