The crucifixion was not an accident or after thought. It was preordained, predetermined by God right from the fall of Adam. Soon after the fall, pronouncing judgement God declare:
15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel." Gen3:15

This was a pointer to Jesus, who was to come and crush the head of Satan. And in the fullness of time He came and I did the deed, finished the work.
Later we see another pointer to the lamb that would be slain when God slew the first animal and used the skin to cover Adam and Eve as the angel of the Lord drove them out of the Garden of Eden.

21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." 23 So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side [e] of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. Gen.3:21-24

Later Jesus came not to cover our sins but to take them away, according to John the Baptist:
29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29

In Exodus12 we see another type of the redemption plan of God as God instructed the Israelites to kill a lamb and spray its blood on the lintel of the door. The angel of death was scheduled to pass through the land in the night and when He saw the blood he would pass over and there would be no death of the first born in that household. Where there was no blood sign on the door post there was going to be wailing as death- the grim reaper took with him the first born. And so it happened.
12 "On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn—both men and animals—and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

Today we are cover by the blood of Jesus. His blood makes atonement for us. We are forgiven because of the shedding of His blood. His blood is precious, powerful, efficacious, enough for any circumstances we face. It seals the New Covenant established on better promises

3But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, 4because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. 13Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, 14because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
Heb. 10:3,4,11-13

Isaiah gives us a vivid description of the cross over 600years before it happened.
4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth. Isa53:4-7

In Psalm 22 David prophetically foreshadows the cross with pin- point accuracy. On the cross these prophecies were fulfilled

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from the words of my groaning?
Fulfilled in when Jesus cried, in the same way
Matt 27:46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"


6 But I am a worm and not a man,
scorned by men and despised by the people.
7 All who see me mock me;
they hurl insults, shaking their heads:
8 "He trusts in the LORD;
let the LORD rescue him.
Let him deliver him,
since he delights in him."
"He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. Matt27:42


9 Yet you brought me out of the womb;
you made me trust in you
even at my mother's breast.
10 From birth I was cast upon you;
from my mother's womb you have been my God.
11 Do not be far from me,
for trouble is near
and there is no one to help.
12 Many bulls surround me;
strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
13 Roaring lions tearing their prey
open their mouths wide against me.
14 I am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.
My heart has turned to wax;
it has melted away within me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;
you lay me in the dust of death.
16 Dogs have surrounded me;
a band of evil men has encircled me,
they have pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I can count all my bones;
people stare and gloat over me.


18 They divide my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing.
24"Let's not tear it," they said to one another. "Let's decide by lot who will get it."
This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said,
"They divided my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing.” So this is what the soldiers did. John 19:24

19 But you, O LORD, be not far off;
O my Strength, come quickly to help me.
20 Deliver my life from the sword,
my precious life from the power of the dogs.
21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;
save me from the horns of the wild oxen.

5 The LORD answered Moses, "Walk on ahead of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. 6 I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink." So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7 And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, "Is the LORD among us or not?"


The rock here represents Jesus who was struck at Calvary to bring us the water of life that washes away sin. He died once and for all and that was why it was wrong for Moses to strike the rock a second time when told to speak to it.
9And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: John3:14
The brazen serpent that was raised on the pole was a picture of Calvary and how Christ, judged sin and Satan by dying on the cross. Jesus alluded to this picture in John3 :14
And so we say life begins from the cross. And whoever looks to the cross in faith, believing in the finished work on Calvary’s cross shall be saved.
The resurrection

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the grave,
nor will you let your Holy One see decay
11 You have made known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: Luke 24:6

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death Rev. 1:18
Ps 16:9-11
Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The LORD Almighty—
he is the King of glory.

Ps24:7-10
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them Ps 68:18
“ O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 1Cor15:55


From theses types and shadows and their fulfilment we can see that the word of God abides forever. It will always be fulfilled just like He said. It is settled in heaven. It is reliable. The ark is a type of Jesus coming to carry His redeemed away as in the rapture. Just as the death and the resurrection of Jesus were foreshadowed and fulfilled, so will the second coming be fulfilled. Are you ready?
