April is National Poetry Month

THE WAY I FEEL

Poetry is one of my best friends
It’s the love song of all ages
Pleasure without end
Young and old alike, can sing and enjoy
the beauty of the rhyme
It can be read at any hour, day or night
Or just any old time

It doesn’t take a college degree
Just a love of simple things
bringing joy to me
Like the Autumn leaves
All the joy that an April shower brings
A December snow storm
A walk in the park
Or listening to the sound of an Eastern Meadow Lark

When I write poetry, I understand me
It is like looking inside a mirror
Soul searching in my head
A voice inside myself
That I do not dread
I discover who I am
A special breed of person
Acquainted with the Great “I Am”

I take a second glance
I am not here by chance
I’ve been put here in this time and space
For a reason, and I have a purpose
I am not looking back
This relationship will last and last
I am no stranger, this is the new me
I’ve been born again by the Blood of Jesus
And set totally free

I am a Daughter of the Lion of Judah
Member of the Jesus Tree
He purchased my soul at Calvary
I was blind, but now I see
He set my feet on a narrow path
To love him more than anything
Is all he’s ever ask

The wonderful world of poetry
Refreshes my spirit like spring rain
The words of the moment
Call to me over and over again
Singing soft gentle music
To a world so out of place
Please read and enjoy the treat
Listen and taste

Poetry is like a drink of water for a thirsty soul
These magic words express what I know
And cannot speak
The shyness of the moment
Is forgotten and boldly spoken
In a language, short and sweet

Dear wonderful readers
May you lose your troubles
And float along on gentle breezes
Let the wind of the spirit
Take you to a higher place
As you let your joy bubble

SINCE THIS IS NATIONAL POETY MONTH
This is my way of celebrating

It is like looking inside a mirror" - I had never thought of it like that, but I think you are right. You express the feelings I think a poet should have.
