Resolute
By Dan Blankenship
The new day arrives
Barely awake am I
But I remember the lives
The ones yet to die
And I embrace the new day
With but one ambition afoot
One objective without stray
To remain resolute
I must reach the lost sheep
Though they think they are secure
While they remain asleep
And their thoughts reign impure
I was once like them
Assure of my own path
Never seeking out Him
Who detours certain wrath
And now as a infant child
I see things anew
Rescued from the wild
Wanting others rescued too
The new day arrives
Now awake am I
And I have hope for the lives
The ones that don’t have to die

'Tis my objective as well, Brother! Reading this poem was like a gift to me in many ways, not limited to the fact that you wrote it on my birthday... a fact I didn't notice until I already had the page open -- a "random" article. But God isn't a random God, is He? It wasn't written on a random day. And this is no random poem. And our lives are not random lives. And our awakening isn't random awakening. We're called to a purpose. And that purpose is not random. Sometimes I want to scream out into the world (but it is out of compassion and the Spirit residing in me) "WAKE UP! YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWETH NIGH!" :::smile::: God's so good!
