Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Heb. 13:8

As humans, we are forever changing and see changes all around us. Yet Scripture reveals the Lord is always the same. He never changes. As I meditate on this, I am awed and amazed at the enormity of this verse. He is the same Creator today that we see in Genesis 1 when He made the entire universe simply by His power and desire. The Almighty God, who created all nature; created everything from the tiniest of all creatures to the intricate design of humans. The very One who designed us, also instilled a void in our spirit that needs to be filled with a relationship with Him. Too often, the doors of this void are closed through our fears. Fears such as the fear of the unknown (like walking blind in unfamiliar territory) or fear of exposure (afraid to take real look at our self) are two real fears. Another is the fear of change (change is costly) and the fear of failure (it’s easier to remain as we are rather than venture change and failure). The fears of men – what will someone think of me if they see the real me – risking ridicule or even worse rejection – is an even greater fear in many.
As we strive to become all the Lord has called us to be, may the Lord place within each of us the unshakeable child-like faith and trust of whom He is. May our desire for unbroken fellowship with Him outweigh all other factors and fears. My prayer is that each one of us will develop the child-like faith that clings to this eternal truth. “I am His child, chosen from the foundation of this world, and He has called me by name. He said so in His Word. So I can rest in this truth, that since He is the same today as yesterday He still chooses me as His child today.”
