Poetry
I Have Died
Too many times I have died
Allowing a carnal mind to abide
“To be carnal minded is death”
Down the path that is wide in breadth
Dwelling on my anger and pride
That is how and why I have died
Our Lord showed me how to make it cease
To be Spirit minded is life and peace
On my knees to weep and pray
Forgive me, Lord, for going astray
Complaining against men of this world
At you my complaints were hurled
Engaged in battle in the Spirit realm
To You, O God, I give over the helm
Steer me from my enemies touch
I need You, Lord, oh so very much
Forgive me for being quick to judge
And remove from my heart this grudge
For the flesh had attempted a coup
But I am yielding my spirit to You.
Thank you for loving me so deep
It is so wonderful for joy I must weep
You delivered me from this attack
Restoring me top to bottom, front to back

Love it! It's beautiful. I can almost feel your heart full to overflowing with the love and admiration you have for our Father. May He bless you abundantly.
I loved the whole poem, Brother, but that fourth stanza was definitely my favorite! I suppose that's because I've tried to fight my way through the mire my whole life, only to find that laying down (at the foot of the cross) is the only way I could ever get out... and the only way to truly live. HE is mighty in battle. So, why do we have so much trouble handing the sword over to Him? After all, if I could choose anyone, anyone at all, to fight my battles for me, I'd choose God.
I think one of our hardest lessons to learn as children of our loving God is the need to die (to all that is self) for only from death can we be resurrected into the LIFE He promises. Thank you for the reminder. Blessings your way!
