The sight and the smell
Transport me to places
Where memories dwell

To porch swings that creak
As we push with our toes
To tea parties with grandma
And new Easter clothes

There are newspaper hats
And the drawer full of toys
Gram’s house is ringing
With all of our noise

Don’t forget the candy dish
With its toffee so sweet
Every time you went to Gram’s
Was sure to be a treat

The subject of prayers
She’d mention us by name
Her love never faded
She loved us the same

But fireflies and lilacs
The sight and the smell
Once again take me back
To where memories dwell
