Iris Murdock stated in the book, Kettering's Law:
"Logic is an organized way of going wrong with confidence."
Why would anyone make such a statement?
Simple.
The truth of the statement is observable all around.
Logic is simply the organized way of thinking out a plan of action to accomplish an objective. The trouble with logic alone is that logic is limited to the facts at hand and hopefully the 'new' facts to come along in the near/far future. Yesterday's logical conclusion may seem very foolish in light of recent or overlooked facts.
Back in the year of our Lord 1949, Popular Mechanics magazine stated:
"Where a calculator on the ENIAC is equipped with 18,000 vacuum tubes and weighs 30 tons, computers in the future MAY have only 1,000 vacuum tubes and perhaps weigh 1 1/2 tons."
The magazine based this logical statement on the best information of the time. The transistor was not yet a factor in the logic of 1949. 25 years ago I was offered a computer that took a 12x12 room space and could not begin to do what I do every day on my laptop which weighs in at 5 1/2 lbs. I am sure in the near future my current modern miracle will seem more like a boat anchor than a sensible business tool.
Organizations, entrepreneurs and individuals must use all info at hand try the best they can to use these facts to predict the future concerning their enterprise. Logic can be only as good the current facts. Have fun as you make your plans for your future.
In matters that really matter, the Lord has given truths to us that never change, that are as reliable as the Sun rising in the East or at least appearing to.
Jesus Christ is risen from the dead this will always be so. He shed His blood of incomparable value on Calvary to wash away sins of all who truly believe in Him. He enables those who will follow to achieve at levels they never dreamed possible. He receives sinful people and makes them acceptable in Gods sight. Through Christ heaven is our home and will be so until Christ is dragged out of the city celestial and chains are forged to hold Him captive in a grave. As the Harvard people say, "It ain't gonna happen, baby."
So, logic based on facts that cannot change is the only safe logic. Trusting Christ makes logical sense. He is the same yesterday, today and forever!
